The winners of the 2012 Car Design of the Year Awards, as voted for by Car Design News readers, were announced at the annual Car Design Night at By Pass nightclub on the evening of the first Geneva motor show press day. Car Design News' editor, Owen Ready, presented the winners of the annual Car Design of the Year Awards.
AC Schnitzer has a new performance package for the BMW M6 coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe. In addition to engine upgrades, the tuning company adds suspension pieces, bodywork, interior bits and a choice of 20- or 21-inch wheels. Output is up from 560 hp to 620 hp, while torque grows to 582 lb-ft.
Which would you pay more for--a V10-powered Audi R8 or the new Ferrari California? At the third annual Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance in Florida last weekend, the Audi R8--the first one in the United States equipped with the 5.2-liter V10--was the winner in a charity auction, selling for $500,000, well above the car's sticker price of $180,000. Meanwhile, the Ferrari California was snapped up for $350,000, a bit more than the $225,000 sticker price.
